Nation Celebrates Makar Sankranti Today; Festive Tuesday Unites People of All Groups

makarNew Delhi, Tuesday, January 14 – India is all about spreading love, affection and celebrating festivals. Good days of the year start today as Makar Sankranti falls on Tuesday. After celebrating Lohri just a day earlier, citizens seem exciting to have a good time on January 14 as well.

Sankranti is considered one of the extremely auspicious occasions for the Hindus and rejoiced in approximately each part of the country in a countless of artistic forms, with utmost fondness passion and joviality. Since it is a harvest festival, people love to sing, dance and even fly kites in bigger groups.

Apart from Makar Sankranti, a series of carnivals lined up today, making it a perfect day of festivity for people of different castes and religions. Bhogali Bihu, Pongal and Eid–e–Milad–un–Nabi are celebrated across the nation with extreme joy, binding everyone in the thread of love and peace.

All these festivals will be observed by various communities in conventional forms on Tuesday. Several schools and colleges in the Capital remained closed today to promote communal harmony. To increase the bond of brotherhood and create friendliness for community in the minds of populace, sweets – especially chikkis – will be shared and exchanged.

Markets are decorated with variety of homemade sweets and distinct styles of kites. A lot of citizens are expected to come out of the house to witness beauty of the roadside shops.
