Whether India Repeat Same Old Story in New Zealand or Register Victory this Time?

india winNew Zealand, Tuesday, January 14 – Young and enthusiastic Indian cricket squad finally landed on the soil of New Zealand yesterday. To combat in 5 One Day International and 2 Test matches, both India and the Kiwis are anticipated to set difficult targets in all matches against each other. Batting line up of the guest team is brilliant, but the way it collapsed in the previous series in opposition to South Africa has made Indians to mull over the same question – whether top and middle batting order would survive in the foreign conditions or get crumpled in front of brilliant bowling attack.

ODI matches incorporate excellent magnetism that play vital role in attracting thousands of cricket fans. To make the upcoming series extremely exciting, five matches have been scheduled that will start on Sunday, January 19, in Napier. Rest of the matches will be held in Hamilton, Auckland and Wellington. Soon after the ODI matches, which will be finished on January 31, two Test matches have been listed that start from February 6. Although, records of Indian team are quite good against the home team, but no one can expect about the unpredictable game – Cricket. Failure of Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led team India on abroad pitches is known to everyone. However, the squad is also capable of registering terrific records and this was proved just three months back when top three batsmen – Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli showed solid partnership against Australia and snatched victory in nail biting matches.

Though the trio has been retained in both ODI and Test teams now, still the bigger doubt about their performance on overseas condition remains in mind. Except Virat, both Shikhar and Rohit couldn’t put much in front while contesting against Proteas last month. But expectations are up this time as well since Ajinkya Rahane, Suresh Raina, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ambati Rayudu, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma, Amit Mishra, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ishwar Pandey, Varun Aaron and Stuart Binny are given fair chances to perform in the approaching matches.

With some slight changes, Test squad seems promising as Skipper Dhoni, Shikhar Dhawan, Murali Vijay, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma, Ambati Rayudu, Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav, Wriddhiman Saha, Ishwar Pandey, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Ravichandran Ashwin have been included to balance both batting and bowling of the Indian team..

Auckland and Wellington, where Test matches are scheduled to take place, are well-known for their good pitches. Without a doubt, they are going to support Kiwis. Indian team would have to put tremendous efforts in front if they want to kick off this year with stupendous innings. 2013 was good in terms of success for Dhoni’s boys, except December when they had to face humiliating losses against Proteas in Test as well as ODI matches. However, nothing is unachievable for them. Record books are adequate to tell that Indian players have turned the entire equation of the game in their favor several times during odd situations. All eyes hope that India will begin the new season with victory in its pocket. It would be interesting to watch whether youngsters will prove their selection worth or repeat the same old story of defeats during tour of New Zealand.
