Mitzi at Midnight takes its roots from a traumatic real-life event: Joslin’s experience at the scene of a flaming fatal accident. This life-changing moment sparked the question, “What if…?” leading to the creation of a gripping narrative centered around the mysteries and dangers lurking beneath the surface of everyday life. Set against the backdrop of Houston’s evolving landscape, the novel explores how the past and present are interwoven, revealing the untold stories that shape our world.

“The job of mobile traffic reporter doesn’t exist anymore,” said Joslin. “Digital cameras are everywhere now, capturing everything up and down the freeways. But back then, we were the eyes on the ground, witnessing things that most people would never know about. This book reflects that unique experience.”

Joslin, a seasoned radio journalist with over 40 years of experience in the field, brings a depth of authenticity to the story. He has worked as a news reporter and traffic anchor, with iHeart Media for much of his career. Joslin’s previous nonfiction work, Count Dracula Goes to the Movies, has been published in multiple editions and explores the many film adaptations of Bram Stoker’s Dracula. His new novel is the culmination of years of dedication to storytelling, transitioning a long-forgotten screenplay into a riveting literary work.

Born in Mississippi and raised in Louisiana, Lyndon W. Joslin has lived in Houston for over 50 years. He began his career in radio nearly four decades ago, starting as a traffic reporter before moving into news anchoring. Joslin’s love for storytelling is evident in his work, both in his nonfiction book and now in his fiction debut.
