Dr Harold L Bare Sr PhD Examines Remarriage and Relationship Challenges in Bedroom of Divorce Second Time Around
Dr. Harold L. Bare, Sr., Ph.D., presents a thoughtful examination of remarriage and relational dynamics in his new book, Bedroom of Divorce: Second Time Around. Drawing from counseling cases involving divorced and remarried individuals, the book explores the psychological and physical challenges couples face while navigating unresolved emotions, blended histories, and expectations for long term partnership.

Through real world scenarios and sociological insight, Dr. Bare addresses common myths surrounding serial relationships, particularly the assumption that emotional and physical complications fade easily with time. The book places emphasis on the capacity of husbands and wives to resolve conflict in mature and constructive ways, offering guidance for couples seeking stability, trust, and deeper fulfillment in marriage as originally intended in a spiritual context.
Bedroom of Divorce: Second Time Around centers on the idea that legal or social permanence does not always equate to emotional health within a marriage. The book highlights how unresolved stress, miscommunication, and unmet expectations can persist even in long standing unions. Dr. Bare underscores that mutually fulfilling relationships require intentional communication, self-awareness, and shared responsibility.
Readers are encouraged to consider happiness as a deliberate choice supported by self-discipline and trust building. The book also reflects on the spiritual dimension of marriage, presenting it as a bond meant to achieve social and physical unity when nurtured with care and accountability.

Dr. Harold L. Bare, Sr., Ph.D., is a sociologist educated at the University of Virginia, with doctoral studies in criminology at Virginia Tech University and graduate training in mental health and family studies from The College of William and Mary. He has served as a senior pastor for forty-four years and works as a consultant, author, and motivational speaker. He also leads the nonprofit organization Encouraging the Saints.
Dr. Bare is married to Dr. Laila B. Bare and is an ordained bishop. He is the father of three children, grandfather to twelve, and great grandfather to six. His previous works include The Edge, Month of Sundays, They Call Me Pentecostal, Mudgod and Hell’s Strategies, Fire Rekindled, A Boy and the Holy Spirit, the four volume novel series Trouble, and thousands of leadership essays.
The author was prompted to write Bedroom of Divorce: Second Time Around after counseling individuals whose former relationships continued to shape their present marriages years after legal separation. Observations about lingering emotional bonds, the impact on families, and the compromises often made in serial marriages form the foundation of the book’s analysis. Dr. Bare explores how legal closure does not always dissolve deep personal connections and how these realities affect spouses and children alike.
