The quality accreditation for higher vocational education for international students studying in China is a quality compliance assessment commissioned by the Ministry of Education and conducted by the China Education Association for International Exchange. The accreditation carries out a systematic assessment across multiple dimensions, including educational mission and positioning, admissions management, the educational and training process, faculty development, and quality assurance. It aims to guide higher education institutions in establishing quality assurance systems for international education that are aligned with international standards, while supporting the implementation of strategies to internationalize vocational education.

In May 2026, an accreditation expert team from the China Education Association for International Exchange visited Chongqing Polytechnic University of Engineering to conduct an on-site review. Through presentations, in-depth interviews, document reviews, classroom observations, and field inspections, the experts conducted a comprehensive, in-depth, and multidimensional assessment of the college’s international education programs.

The expert team spoke highly of the college’s distinctive practices in taking vocational education overseas, integrating industry and education, and fostering students through cultural education. The experts noted that the college closely aligns its international education programs with the needs of international industrial capacity cooperation. By leveraging international cooperation platforms such as Luban Workshops and overseas industrial colleges, the college has created a mutually reinforcing model in which the education of international students and the global expansion of vocational education support each other, effectively enhancing the international influence of Chongqing’s vocational education.

In recent years, the college has pursued an internationalization strategy centered on “strategic leadership, systematic planning, education following industry development, school-enterprise collaboration, and coordinated talent cultivation.” It has actively supported the Belt and Road Initiative, closely aligned its development with major strategies such as the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor in the western region, the construction of the Maritime Silk Road, and Chongqing’s efforts to build itself into a high-level hub for opening up to the outside world. It has also supported the international expansion of industries related to Chongqing’s “33618” modern manufacturing cluster system.

Focusing on advantageous disciplines such as equipment manufacturing and next-generation information technology, the college precisely aligns its programs with the overseas job requirements of Chinese enterprises expanding abroad. With the goal of cultivating highly skilled professionals who “understand Chinese, are familiar with Chinese culture, and possess professional skills,” it is developing a distinctive brand for international education in China with a strong Chongqing identity.

“The college adopts an integrated management system for international students that brings them under the unified management of the ‘big teaching,’ ‘big academic affairs,’ and ‘big student affairs’ systems. Over the past five years, it has trained nearly 2,000 international students from more than 20 countries, including Thailand, Tanzania, Uzbekistan, and Russia,” said a relevant official from Chongqing Polytechnic University of Engineering.

The college has established 13 international cooperation platforms, including the Tanzania Luban Workshop, the China-Thailand New Energy Vehicle Industry College, and the China-Thailand Hisense Industrial College. Through these platforms, it has trained more than 5,000 internationally oriented technical and skilled professionals and provided services to more than 20 Chinese-funded enterprises.

It will also continue to upgrade its distinctive “Chinese + vocational skills” talent cultivation programs, continuously improve the quality of education and services for international students, and build a world-class brand for the internationalization of vocational education. Through these efforts, the college aims to contribute to higher-quality and more efficient international engagement in Chongqing’s vocational education and inject strong momentum into regional international talent development and the internationalization of education.
